[Don't] Seek and You Shall Find

November 4, 1988 was a really beautiful day for autumn, the sun was high and warm, and the breeze was fresh and clean. Here I was, a new recruit in a new town, trying to get familiar with what was to be my new home for the next year or two and I was really enjoying the exploration of my surroundings.

Not knowing much about any cities attractions or where to find them, I did what any regular teenager would do, I sought out the nearest mall to check out the sites and the people. I didnt really see many stores that looked familiar to me, I guess I was used to the big city chains and not the local fare that most small towns tend to boast, but all the same, I was having a pretty good time making my way around. Out of 70 shoppes, I think Baskin-Robbins was the only familiar name I saw, so I treated myself to a Kahlua ice cream cone -- what a treat.

So, I am walking around, lost in my own world and eating my ice cream and trying not to look like a tourist - not like it was really working - and then I heard it. It's hard to describe, but all I can say is that it was the sweetest laugh that I have ever heard and I had to see where it came from. There is was again, it made me smile. Standing still and carefully scanning the crowd, I came across this very pretty eyed, blonde boy who was surrounded by a small group of girls, they looked as if they were doing some sort of decorating or something around the center court.

I had to find my way closer to him so I could get a better look, so I took a seat on a nearby bench and I watched him for a long while before I decided, " I must meet him". The way he smiled, threw his head back slightly when he laughed and giggled, the radiance of his personality, the over-all way he carried himself, it all spoke to me and I knew for sure I needed to speak to him. He was beautiful!

Two weeks passed and everyday I could, I made my way to the mall to see him. It was never my intention to goto the mall to meet anyone or anything like that, just to get familiar with the town that would be my home for a little while. Who knew? Here I was a stranger in a strange place and I met the one person who would by consistent in my life for the next 24yrs as both friend and lover.

And it was said, "So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." Luke 11:9

Point of the conversation: No truer words could have ever been spoken or taught.
